A Message from the Class Teacher, Mrs Ormerod

2018-19 Term 5

Dear Parents and Carers,

The following information outlines Class 6's curriculum coverage for term 5:

We will be spending the first 3 weeks revising for the upcoming SATS which take place in week 4 of term 5. In addition, we will be continuing to find opportunities to write in a variety of styles and will be beginning with persuasive writing. We will be designing our own inventions and then trying to persuade others to buy them - think Dragon's Den!

We will be revising all aspects of the maths curriculum in preparation for the upcoming SATS.

Mrs Fidge will be teaching the children science on a Monday. Our topic for the term continues to be evolution and inheritence.

Religious Education:

We will be returning to our learning on Islam and completing part 2 of the  topic, "What is it like to be a Muslim in Britain today?"

We will be learning about spreadsheets in Term 5.

Our topic for the term is "Where we live". We will be looking at the history and geography of the local area.

Physical Education:

We will be receiving a specialist PE lesson from Mr Booker on a Monday afternoon. In addition, for terms 5 and 6 we will be participating in Kwik Cricket at the Cricket Ground on a Wednesday afternoon.

Mrs Willmott will be teaching the children music on a Wednesday afternoon.

Homework and Spellings:

Homework and spellings are set on a Friday and are due in the following Wednesday. In Year 6, the children are set both English and Maths homework for the week. These is supplied with a 'week-ahead sheet' so you can see if there are any upcoming events for your diaries.

If you have any questions about your child's learning, then please feel free to speak with me or make an appointment at the school office.

Thank you for your continued support,

Mrs Ormerod (Class 6 Teacher) and Ms Sullivan (Class 6 Teaching Assistant)
