We want learning to be exciting and memorable. Each term, each class explores an enquiry question such as, 'How is life in Kenya different to our own?' or 'How did the Greeks change the world?'. Teachers will establish what the children already know and then help them explore new knowledge over the term. Towards the end of the term, the children demonstrate what they have learnt through an open - ended assessment tasks.
Subject days allow teachers to use whole days where they can plan to explore one particular subject in a more intensive way. For example, the children may plan, make and review a model or invention linked to the enquiry question or the children will come dressed up in historical costumes and explore the different lifestyle of the historical era they are studying. Whatever the focus of the subject day, an opportunity to write and practice spelling/phonic skills will be part of the day.
