PE

At Selling, we place huge value on the experiences received during PE lessons.

We use a range of teaching to ensure that pupils at Selling have the opportunity to enjoy their PE lessons. Whether positive or negative, we all remember our PE lessons and this is why we have a large emphasis on individual progress.

We know that all children are different in their abilities and we use Primary PE Planning to help us support our learners. Using this scheme of work helps our pupils to assess their own ability, think about how they can improve and think about how they can help others. The scheme has incredible resources, which support teachers to meet the needs of all children.

We have a mixture of game and skills lessons which have been carefully planned by the PE lead and the Canterbury academy PE specialist.

We attend many sports competitions and events of the course of the year, and we are proud that almost all of our children will attend at least one of them. We are part of the Canterbury schools PE package which provides a vast amount of inclusive and challenging events over the year.

Each class teacher will have PE on certain days so make sure you check out your child's class page for further information.

Our PE intent:

  • To understand that learning doesn’t always take place in a classroom.
  • To develop of a love physical activity and play.
  • To become familiar with the rules of a range of sports.
  • To compete in competitive sport in school and against other schools.
  • To gain an understanding of how our bodies work.
  • To encourage children to lead an active and healthy lifestyle.
  • To encourage children to engage in physical activity outside of school.
  • To create confident learners who have positive attitudes towards new experiences
