At Selling Church of England Primary School, we seek for our children to become effective, curious and resilient learners. Our aim is to prepare each child for their future life, enabling them to develop into thoughtful and responsible adults who want to make a useful contribution to society. Through a carefully planned and systematic curriculum which is broad, balanced and builds on prior knowledge, we provide an enriched and exciting learning journey which inspires and deepens the children’s awareness of themselves and of the world around them. The curriculum prepares every child for the pursuit of knowledge, equipping each with the knowledge and skills that they require in order to lead lives of choice and opportunity. Frequent retrieval opportunities are included in lessons to build a system of knowledge recall as we believe that confidence grows from having treasure troves of knowledge. We focus on developing the whole child within a caring, Christian environment, teaching them how to learn effectively, encouraging them to be life-long learners. As the gateway to wider learning, priority is placed on the skills of reading and effective communication. Learning how to keep themselves safe and to identify and manage risks is included as an investment into enabling the children to lead independent, healthy future lives whilst enjoying good mental health.
