Term 1, 2022 - 2023
Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome back to a new school year and to Year 6! It has been lovely to hear about all the fantastic experiences you had during the summer and I am amazingly proud of how quickly the children have settled into their new routines and becoming role models for our younger students! This term, we are exploring the question: How have leisure activities changed during the ages.
We shall be investigating different leisure activities and thinking about cause and effect using our historical skills. The topic web below shows which eras we shall concentrate on.
Year 6 do not have a home learning menu but have weekly home work tasks to help with the transition to secondary school. Each Thursday the children will bring home their books with their tasks. Please can you also continue to support your child to practise their spellings, read and earn points on TTRockstars each week. As soon as children have completed a book they should complete their Accelerated Reader quiz in class. In addition to reading independently we are also sharing the tale of Morrigan Crow and using it as a stimulus for our own writing.
Please ensure PE kits are in school for our lessons on Monday and swimming kits for lessons on Tuesday.
As ever, please do speak to us at the end of the day or contact the school office if you have any questions or concerns.
With best wishes,
Mrs Flanagan, Mrs Fidge and Mrs Cassidy.
