Year 3: Thunberg Class

Term 5, 2022-2023

Dear Year 3 Parents and Carers,

I have really enjoyed getting to know the class and am looking forward to working with them for the rest of the academic year.

Spellings

I will be setting spellings on a Monday which will be tested on Friday. The spellings will come home in their spelling books on Monday so they can practise them. The book needs to come back into school on Friday. The children will also practise their spellings daily at school.

All children have new AR reading ranges and should be bringing their reading book and reading record home every day. Please encourage your child to read to you at home and make a note of it in their reading record. Every time your child reads at home, they will earn a house point!

We are no longer allowing pencil cases at school. All equipment will be provided.

PE Days

PE days will be Monday and Friday. Please ensure children wear the correct PE kit:

  • White plain (school logo optional) T- Shirt
  • Black shorts / skort
  • Black jogging bottoms
  • School hoodie/plain black hoodie
  • Sensible outdoor trainers

If you ever have any questions or concerns, please catch me after school or email [email protected]  and I will be happy to help.

Kind regards,

Mrs Jones

Term 4, 2022-2023

Dear Parents and Carers,

I hope you are all rested and enjoyed some family time at half term.  Please do come and say hello if you need to share anything with me, or you have questions.  The office can forward emails to me and can help with arbour queries.

This term, we are exploring the question, 'Who were the Greeks?'. The topic web shows an overview of this term's teaching and learning.  The home learning menu is also available below, much more fun than homework; it's how we encourage you to create, discuss and share learning at home that we can celebrate in school.

This term we have PE on a Monday and on Thursday we have PE offsite at the Gym in Faversham.  As the weather remains unpredictable please make sure your children have wellington boots and coats, it really helps the children enjoy playtimes to the full.

You can help support your child's learning by encouraging spelling, times tables and reading practice.  I set spellings every week, for a quiz on Monday.  Times tables can be practised on the TT rockstars app (please contact me if the login is lost).  A school reading book linked to our Accelerated Reader scheme or Little Wandle is always available.  These key skills help children fully access all areas of the curriculum, so your support is really valuable.

I do hope you are all keeping well and staying safe.

With best wishes,
Mrs Bennett
