CHANGE TO SWIMMING:
Please note that Year 5 swimming will now be in TERM 2, starting on 4th November.
Thank you,
Miss L
Welcome to all our wonderful Oak class families!
I hope you have had a fantastic summer break, and I am so looking forward to hearing all about it from the children.
Across the year I will endeavor to keep this page updated for the new term to begin. You will find the spellings, topic web and weekly time table here, along with other important updates for the term.
Children have 2 PE slots per week. Usually this will be more straight forward, but for this term please pay particular notice of the dates below:
Starting on Thursday 4th of September, YEAR 6 children will have cricket with Tom Harris from '
Chance to Shine' (Kent Cricket scheme).
Starting Monday 8th of September all children have basketball with Mrs P, our specialist from Canterbury Academy.
Starting Tuesday 16th YEAR 5 children will have swimming lessons. Please ensure you have consented via Arbor.
To summarise, Year 6 need to be in PE kit on Mondays and Thursdays. Year 5 need to be in their PE kit every Monday and also Thursday 4th and Thursday 11th. Once swimming begins they will only need to wear their PE kit on Monday and bring their swimming kit on Tuesdays. Please note there are 2 groups for swimming, one going this term, and one going in term 2. If your child is swimming in term 2, they will continue to have PE on Thursday this term. You should have received the start date via email/arbor however please call the office if you need more information.
The Kent Test will be held on September 11th for those Year 6 children who have elected to take the paper. The test takes almost the whole day, and the children will be looked after by the lovely Mrs Fidge (who always has something delicious to share at the half way mark). It is usually quite an exciting time for them, rather than stressful, but if you child is worried please do let us know and we will do our best to support them.
Keep your eye on you emails for the confirmed dates for flu vaccinations and of course, Harvest festival! We would love to see as many of you as possible at our church service, particularly to experience the Year 6's shout "Conkers" during one of our songs, which is a long standing Selling tradition.
This term we will be learning about 'The Vikings' and I am looking forward to getting stuck into our book "Valley of The Vikings". Be sure to check out the topic web for all the other exciting learning this term has in store.
If you have any questions that you cannot find the answer to on our website, please contact the school office via phone (01227 752202) or email [email protected].
Best wishes, and here's to a wonderful year ahead,
Miss Leitch
