Term 5 Timetable

The Early Years Foundation Stage

The learning in Acorn Class follows the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Framework with the supporting document 'Development Matters'. There are seven areas of development which the children's progress will be monitored throughout the year. Our hope is that each child makes excellent progress and many achieve a ‘Good Level of Development’ by the end of the year. This is achieved by meeting the Early Learning Goals which can be found on the curriculum link below. We work closely with families and other professionals to ensure that all children are given the best opportunities to achieve their potential.

In Acorn Class we love play and learn so much through it. We understand the importance of our timetable including ample time for play opportunity. Teacher directed input will increase at the year progresses. Learning through play is essential for the holistic development of children. It fosters creativity, problem-solving skills, and social interactions, all while making the learning process enjoyable. Play encourages exploration and experimentation, allowing children to discover their interests and passions. It also enhances cognitive development, as it involves critical thinking and decision-making. Moreover, play helps children develop emotional intelligence by teaching them how to manage their emotions and cooperate with others. Ultimately, it lays a strong foundation for lifelong learning and instills a love for acquiring knowledge, making it a crucial aspect of early childhood education.

We value communication with our children's families to help provide the best support and education for your children. Please either speak to us at the end of the school day, contact us through the School Office or Tapestry, if you have an queries, concerns or good news to share! We will get back to you as soon as possible.

Best wishes,

Miss Goulding and Mrs Leader
